What a day!

Today started with SAQ’s alexanderson day transmission on VLF @ 17.2kHz at 9:00 UTC, about the same time as the launch of HABANERO2. this High Altitude Balloon was launched from maassluis. I was there to help with the launch. After that I got in the car to go to Delft to track the balloon. While doing this, I also tested some new video gear for the lighthouse weekend 0n 5.8GHz. This worked very well.

After that, two more HABs….and the FUNcube team meeting.

WebSDR

Today I have put back the Nordholt antenna on the roof at the EEMCS faculty of Delft University.
It is still a temporary state, but I hope to be updating the setup over the coming time!

USRPA3WEG

Behold, the USRPA3WEG, a modified USRP from ettus research.
This has I and Q differential in- and outputs and contains a WBX on slot B.

I use it for testing modulators, demodulators and general SDR playground.

PIE6

I have received some pictures from a Raspberry Pi powered balloon, launched from Brightwalton in the UK.

This balloon was transmitting SSDV protcol images, which I received in Delft.

More on the balloon can be found on Dave Akermans blog at http://www.daveakerman.com/?p=1154

Delfi-C3 5th anniversary!

Hi All,

Today, Delfi-C3 is still going strong after 5 years in orbit.
Yesterday night, Gerard Aalbers and myself were decoding her from the Stena Line ferry from Hoek van Holland to Harwich.

Afterwards, we uploaded the packets received to the Delfi-C3 Distributed Ground Station Network servers over an INMARSAT internet link on the ferry.
A true SPACE – EARTH – SPACE – EARTH QSO ;)

Turksat 3USat & CubeBug-1 heard

I just received The TurkSat CW beacon and some TX that looks like 9k6 from CubeBug-1.My TNC was set to 1200bd, and I did not have recording on the second RX.

CW Message as decoded by Wouter Jan PE4WJ:
TURKSAT 3U SAT HAAAAAA YM2RTU 0 0 (the last zeroes are ??)

The Recordings can be found at:
http://pa3weg.nl/pa3weg/recordings/TurkSat-26-04-2013_0904UTC_1_PA3WEG.mp3
and
http://pa3weg.nl/pa3weg/recordings/TurkSat-26-04-2013_0904UTC_2_PA3WEG.mp3

The first half of the pass we were adjusting to the two tone CW. Then we tried if the transponder was on, which was not the case. I cut out this part of the pass. The second half is afterwards.

In the mean time I heard CubeBug-1, but failed to decode it.

Update:

I have captured CubeBug-1 on the 3rd pass as well. Looks like the deviation on the TX is too low.

PA3WEG on the AMSAT-UK net and HF

No antennas on the roof, so I need to go out to listen to the AMSAT-UK 80m and 40m net.

While at it, it was very nice weather. so I stuck around and made some HF QSOs.
